There's a group of people ready packing - they're off to Sri Lanka tomorrow. Their tour leader, our very own Will Wagstaff, is already heading to Birmingham to meet them for the flight to Sri Lanka.
It's a special occasion for the holidaymakers - the delayed celebration of a 70th birthday. All was in place for them last year but then the tsunami hit and plans had to be abandoned. Of course the greater part of the island and all its glories was unaffected physically but the nation has suffered terribly not only from communal grief but also in economic terms with tourism being badly affected.
Our dear friend, Rani, at High Elms Travel has got everything organised for the group and Will is looking forward to meeting our driver/guide, Donald. Donald is also a good birder and knows all the sites where the more unusual species lurk - and he also doubles up as a brilliant comedy act!
So, John & Carol, I'd like to wish you and your friends and relations a really happy holiday on the stunningly beautiful and absolutely fascinating island which is Sri Lanka.
