I haven't been so excited for years! I've lived in this wee house in the middle of the woods for 22 years and had never seen a Red Squirrel here - until this morning! My neighbours - a wee way through the other side of the woods - have had five of them at their feeders for quite a while now, but no such luck for me (probably because I've got greys). So you can imagine how thrilled I am.
It was a coincidence as well. Yesterday I had a visit from photographer Niall Benvie who's leading a trip to the Faroe Islands which we're organising. I knew his name was familiar but it wasn't until we met that I put two and two together. Niall had been the photographer of the Red Squirrels at Ballathie House Hotel (and I think I've mentioned them a few months ago in the blog)and I'd once been in touch with him to get permission to use one of his photographs in the hotel's newsletter. Isn't it fun the way things come round?
