I hadn't realised just how anxious I was about my health until I got the all clear on Wednesday. There's a minor problem but that can be sorted out with mild medication. What a relief! Suddenly I've found the energy which had been missing for months - although it still runs out faster than it used to!
Now it's eyes down to departure for Australia. It's not just getting ready for that: as I won't be back until 12 December, all the Christmas plans have to be made, to say nothing of the cards and letters written. I still refuse to go the "Round Robin" route and abide by the hand-written rule. It's so much more personal and does give the pleasure of really thinking about the person to whom you're writing, even if you haven't seen them for years (or eons in some cases!).
Isn't the US presidential fascinating? Can't say I've ever found that before, but this one is incredible. Do you think Obama will really will? It looks like it, but then there's the privacy of the ballot box to bear in mind plus the frightening racism which still pervades the States. I don't know if you listen to the News Quiz on Radio 4, but they are absolutely wicked about the vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. We really are blessed with the satire on our radios but it seems a fine line between that and the nonsense which has hit the headlines this week. What a sad indictment of the younger generation that the kind of offensive, repugnant broadcasting which Jonathan Ross and his buddy put out is supposed to attract them. The young people I know are equally disgusted - not all of them are immoral and insensitve - in fact the majority are fine people and the future of this country. End of rant!
It's so tempting to sit here chattering away, but there's work to be done and if it's not achieved before I leave next Saturday there's going to be even more of a nightmare to return to than will be the case (and the reality will be bad enough as it is). Anyway, onwards and upwards. Hope you're all having a lovely relaxing weekend!!
