The last entry on this blog began "I can honestly say that this has been the best (nearly) 5 weeks in recent years". That was about 6 or 7 weeks ago and I can begin this one with "I can honestly say that this has been the worst 7 weeks in recent years."!!!! That's why you haven't been hearing from me.
I'll not go into details. Suffice it to say that:
* both computers in the office crashed two days after I got back from Australia to a 5-week backlog
* broken foot still very painful
* 2 days before Christmas (computers still down or limping) I dislocated the knee-cap in my left leg
* Christmas on crutches
* Both old ladies who came for Christmas lunch were sick at the table - so much for my cooking
* 27 December - got an awful flu-like virus: in bed for 5 days which did wonders for the foot and the knee!
* Had to cancel leading to Ascension, St Helena and South Africa and find a replacement (thank you
Colin)
* New Year's Eve (or Hogmanay to those of us north of the border) swollen face - dentist prescribed
the type of antibiotics you can't take with alcohol - the first dry New Year ever!!
* Got tummy bug
* January 5th - Karon (who'd been off since before Christmas) phoned in with flu. It's only the 2nd time
in 15 years that she's been poorly for more than a couple of days. She was off for 2 weeks.
Now we're just about back to normal except I can't get rid of the virus and have to retreat to bed most afternoons - so if you're going to call please do so in the morning. Otherwise everything's fine!
I'd expected bookings to dry up completely in the current economic climate but it's not bad at all and we're keeping very busy. In fact in a way it's as well I didn't lead that trip as I've had a bit of space to get better (not very successful) and catch up on the backlog (doing not bad).
I'll try to be a good girl and do regular blogs again and hope you have found the explanation of the long silence at least mildly entertaining!
