We've just heard that the Royal Mail Ship St Helena is to call at Tristan da Cunha in January/February 2011 (yes, Twenty Eleven - it's not a typing mistake!).
Now you may think that that's a long way in the future but, believe me, if you want to go you'll need to book in the next couple of weeks - before, even, the price is confirmed.
It's going to be a wonderful trip. Starting in Cape town, the ship sails down to Tristan where she stays for three nights, giving a reasonable chance of getting ashore. No guarantees! She then heads up to St Helena for three nights before continuing to Ascension Island. On the return journey she simply calls at St Helena before returning to Cape Town.
There is, of course, an option to fly home from Ascension Island if time is going to be an issue for you, but the package is a fixed price and so time is all that you would save. Equally, if you prefer to stay on st Helena while the ship goes to Ascension you can do so - but there would be the additional cost of accommodation and activities on the island. The ship will do a swift trip to Ascension Island, calling back at St Helena before returning to Cape Town. Now is that a mouth-watering prospect or what?
The trip will be over-subscribed several times and the only way is to be quick off the mark. So give me a call if you're interested.
